How the page estimate is calculated

The band in the results follows the length categories the industry actually uses. According to the Science Fiction and Fantasy Writers Association Nebula Award rules, a short story runs under 7,500 words, a novelette 7,500 to under 17,500, a novella 17,500 to under 40,000, and a novel is 40,000 words or more. Where page estimates usually go wrong
The commonest error is treating a manuscript page as a book page. Standard manuscript format, double-spaced on letter paper, holds roughly 250 words a page, and it is pure coincidence that the printed baseline here is also 250. Change the trim or the type size and the two numbers part company immediately.
