Plasma Payment Calculator

Published onMay 4, 2026 Updated onOctober 27, 2026 1:50 pm

Plasma centers pay per visit, not per month, so the honest way to estimate your earnings is per-visit pay times frequency. This calculator runs that arithmetic for you: weekly, monthly and annual earnings from your center’s first- and second-visit rates, the effective hourly rate for your time at the center, and a first-month planner that models the 8-visit new-donor bonus schedules centers actually publish. The pay figures on this page are typical 2026 ranges compiled from published center pay tables and donor reports. Calculator Zilo is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by any plasma center.

Plasma Payment Calculator
Weekly, monthly and annual earnings plus a first-month new-donor bonus planner

Preset pay figures are typical 2026 published ranges; your center and location set the actual rates. This tool is independent and not affiliated with any plasma center.

Enter each visit’s payment from your center’s new-donor schedule. The defaults mirror a commonly published 8-visit structure: $50 for the first two visits, then $60 for visits 3-8, plus an early-completion bonus and an 8-visit completion bonus.

Quick Answer

At $60 for the first weekly visit and $80 for the second, donating twice a week earns $140 a week, which is $606.20 a month for a regular donor and $7,280 a year. As a new donor the first month comes to $1,166.20 with the bonus modeled here. Most regular donors land between $400 and $800 a month; new donors typically see $700 to $1,500 in month one.

How to use this plasma payment calculator

The tool has two tabs. Regular earnings takes your center’s first- and second-visit payments and projects weekly, monthly and annual pay. First-month planner models a new-donor bonus schedule visit by visit, because promotions pay different amounts per visit and a single weekly figure cannot capture that.

On the Regular tab, pick a preset or type your center’s rates directly, set 1 or 2 donations per week, add any weekly bonus, and say whether you are a new donor. The First-month planner starts with a commonly published 8-visit structure ($50, $50, $60 × 6 plus $50 early and $200 completion bonuses) which you overwrite with your center’s actual schedule. Press Calculate, and the results stay hidden until you do, so the page never shows a stale number.

The math behind the tool

Every figure on the results panel comes from five short formulas applied to your per-visit payments:

FigureFormula
Weekly earningsFirst-visit pay + second-visit pay + weekly bonus
Monthly earningsWeekly × 4.33 (the average number of weeks in a month)
New-donor first monthMonthly + (weekly × 4), a one-time bonus modeled as four weeks of weekly pay
Annual earningsWeekly × 52
Effective hourly rateWeekly ÷ (visits per week × 2 hours)
First-month planner totalSum of the 8 visit payments + early bonus + completion bonus

Two assumptions are worth stating plainly. The new-donor bonus on the Regular tab is a rough model, not your center’s real schedule: it adds four weeks of weekly pay to the first month. For the real figure, enter your center’s published 8-visit schedule in the planner tab. And the hourly rate assumes about 2 hours per visit at the center, which covers a typical repeat visit including screening and recovery; first visits run longer.

Worked example, checked against this exact tool

Regular tab: first donation $60, second donation $80, 2 times per week, no weekly bonus, new donor = yes. Weekly = 60 + 80 = $140.00. Monthly = 140 × 4.33 + 140 × 4 = 606.20 + 560.00 = $1,166.20 (the new-donor bonus adds $560.00). Annual = 140 × 52 = $7,280.00. At about 2 hours per visit, that is $35.00/hour across 4 hours a week. Flip new donor to no and the monthly figure drops to $606.20.

First-month planner tab: with the default schedule (50, 50, 60, 60, 60, 60, 60, 60) plus a $50 early-completion and $200 8-visit completion bonus: visit total = $460, bonuses = $250, first-month total = $710.00, or $88.75 per visit averaged across the schedule.

What determines your plasma pay

Weight tier is the biggest lever the FDA allows. Federal rules let centers collect more plasma from heavier donors, and pay tracks volume:

Weight tierPlasma collectedTypical per-visit pay
110-149 lbs690 mL$40-$65
150-174 lbs825 mL$50-$80
175+ lbs880 mL$60-$100

Frequency is the second lever: the second weekly donation almost always pays more than the first, so twice-a-week donors earn meaningfully more than double the once-a-week rate at many centers. New-donor promotions are the largest single factor in the short term, commonly $700-$1,500 across the first month to acquire donors, versus $400-$800 a month for regulars. Location and center competition shift every figure, which is why the presets are labeled as typical ranges rather than promises.

Typical 2026 pay by center

Published 2026 ranges for the four largest chains, from each chain’s advertised promotions and donor-reported pay data:

CenterNew-donor first monthRegular per visitNotes
CSL Plasma$700-$1,000$50-$100Strong weight-tier pay; 300+ locations
BioLife$600-$900$40-$100Near-flat by weight; rewards loyalty program
Octapharma$600-$800$35-$75OctaRewards loyalty bonuses
Grifols$800-$1,000$40-$90Passport loyalty program; KEDPLASMA sister centers

Calculator Zilo is independent and not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by CSL Plasma, BioLife, Octapharma or Grifols. Figures are typical 2026 ranges; promotions change often and pay varies by center and location, so confirm the current schedule at your center before planning around it.

Eligibility and keeping your payments

You must be 18 or older, weigh at least 110 lbs, pass a medical screening, and test non-reactive for transmissible viruses under federal source-plasma donor rules. You can donate up to twice in any 7-day period with at least a day between donations.

The most common reason donors lose a visit, and its payment, is a failed same-day screening: low iron, low protein, or dehydration. Eating iron- and protein-rich meals and hydrating well the day before and the morning of your appointment is the cheapest way to protect your earnings. Keep every payment record, because this income is taxable (see below) and your records are your proof.

Is plasma pay taxable?

Yes. The IRS treats plasma payments as ordinary income, reported on Schedule 1 of Form 1040 as other income. A center issues a 1099-MISC (or 1099-NEC) only once your pay from that center reaches $600 in a calendar year, but the reporting threshold is the center’s paperwork obligation, not yours: every dollar is taxable even if no form arrives. Donors who treat the activity like a small side business sometimes model it alongside their wage income with an hourly after-taxes calculator to see the real take-home rate, or compare it against a salaried figure with an annual income to hourly calculator. This page is an estimator, not tax advice; a tax professional settles edge cases.

What competing calculators miss

The dominant plasma-pay site publishes excellent 2026 pay tables by weight tier, center and state, but its ranking pages give you no interactive calculator: you read ranges and do the multiplication yourself. BioLife-focused sites do offer a calculator, but it runs on two fixed base rates with no weight-tier or promotion adjustments, which is exactly the information that moves the number. Finance-style guides often describe the math wrongly, including the claim that the second weekly visit pays less than the first, when published pay charts show it usually pays more.

This page closes those gaps: one-tap presets drawn from real 2026 published ranges by weight tier and by center, a first-month planner that models the 8-visit bonus schedules centers actually advertise, the effective hourly rate no competitor computes, and every assumption (the new-donor bonus model, the 2-hour visit, the 4.33-week month) stated on the page instead of buried. If you ever donate without compensation, a donation value calculator covers the charitable side instead.

Frequently asked questions

Most centers pay about $40 to $100 per donation. Regular donors donating twice a week typically bring in $400 to $800 a month, and new donors usually see $700 to $1,500 in the first month thanks to promotional bonus schedules. Your weight tier, your center, and the current promotion decide where you land in those ranges.
Yes. Federal rules let centers collect 690 mL from donors weighing 110-149 lbs, 825 mL from 150-174 lbs, and 880 mL from 175+ lbs, and pay rises with the volume collected. The calculator’s weight-tier presets reflect that: $50/$65, $60/$75 and $70/$90 for the first and second weekly visits.
Up to twice in any 7-day period, with at least one day between donations, which works out to a maximum of 104 donations a year. The calculator’s monthly figure uses 4.33 weeks per month, about 9 donations at twice weekly.
It varies more by location than by brand, because the same chain pays different rates in different markets. As typical 2026 ranges, CSL Plasma advertises up to $1,000 for new donors, BioLife up to $900, Grifols up to $1,000 and Octapharma up to $800, with regular per-visit pay of roughly $40-$100 across the chains. Compare the current promotions at every center near you, then enter the real numbers in the calculator.
Centers publish a promotional schedule for your first visits, for example higher pay on each of the first 8 donations plus bonuses for finishing early or completing the full schedule. The Regular tab models this roughly as four weeks of weekly pay added once. The First-month planner tab is the exact approach: enter each of the 8 visit payments and the two bonuses from your center’s schedule.
Yes, it is ordinary income and you report it on Schedule 1 of Form 1040 as other income. A center sends a 1099-MISC or 1099-NEC only when your pay from that center reaches $600 in a calendar year, but all of it is taxable whether or not a form arrives. Keep your own payment records through the year.
You must be at least 18, weigh at least 110 lbs, and pass a medical screening each visit. The most common same-day deferrals are low iron, low protein, or dehydration, plus non-reactive test results for transmissible viruses. Eating iron- and protein-rich meals and hydrating well before your appointment protects both your eligibility and your payment.
The effective hourly rate divides weekly pay by visits per week times 2 hours, which covers a typical repeat visit including screening and recovery time. First visits run longer because of the physical exam and paperwork. It is an assumption, stated openly, so you can judge the hourly figure accordingly.
